About the Course

Learning EMDR Therapy is more than learning a protocol. It is learning a new way of understanding what our clients carry, how past experiences continue to shape the present, and how healing can unfold through adaptive processing. Rooted & Restored Collective's EMDR Basic Training is designed to help clinicians build a strong foundation in the EMDR Therapy model and the confidence to bring it into the therapy room. Grounded in Francine Shapiro's Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, you'll learn the standard eight-phase protocol and three-pronged approach while developing the clinical thinking that supports thoughtful case conceptualization, preparation, target selection, reprocessing, and clinical decision-making. Because learning EMDR requires more than hearing about it, this training is intentionally experiential. Through live instruction, demonstrations, case examples, and supervised practicum, you'll see the model in action, practice what you're learning, and receive support and feedback along the way. Our goal is for you to leave with more than a set of steps to follow. Our goal is to help you understand the model beneath the protocol and feel increasingly equipped to make thoughtful, grounded clinical decisions in the therapy room. Your Complete EMDR Basic Training The complete Rooted & Restored Collective EMDR Basic Training consists of 52 total program hours, including: ● 20+ hours of instruction ● 20 hours of supervised experiential practicum ● 10 hours of consultation ● Required reading ● Required Learner Assessment ● Training manual and clinical resources

Meet Your Trainer:  Amber Furness, LISW-S

Amber Furness is a Licensed Independent Social Worker, supervisor, EMDR therapist, clinical educator, and EMDRIA Approved Consultant specializing in trauma-focused and relational psychotherapy. Her clinical experience spans community mental health, family-based work, inpatient psychiatric care, and outpatient trauma therapy, giving her experience working with clients across levels of care and with complex clinical presentations. She now provides psychotherapy, clinical supervision and consultation, and professional education for mental health clinicians. Amber's approach to teaching is grounded in the belief that becoming a skilled trauma therapist requires more than learning interventions. It requires curiosity, self-awareness, strong clinical judgment, and a willingness to understand our own responses in the therapy room. Her trainings focus on helping clinicians move beyond simply learning techniques to understanding the clinical reasoning behind them, building the attunement, case conceptualization, and decision-making skills needed to respond thoughtfully to the person in front of them. Her areas of clinical interest include trauma and dissociation, attachment, parts work, somatic and nervous-system-informed approaches, and the relational processes that support healing.

Participants are encouraged to utilize consultation throughout the training process as they begin applying the skills for which they have received training. All 10 consultation hours must be completed within the participant's 12-month training completion period. Who Is Eligible to Attend? EMDR Basic Training is intended for licensed or license-eligible mental health professionals and qualifying graduate students. Participants generally must meet one of the following eligibility pathways: ● Hold a master's or doctoral degree in a clinical mental health-related field and be licensed or working toward applicable professional licensure; ● Be currently enrolled in a qualifying graduate-level clinical mental health program and provide documentation of enrollment and a recommendation from appropriate faculty; ● Be a qualifying medical professional whose specialty and professional scope include mental health treatment; or ● Meet another applicable professional eligibility pathway approved by the training program. Important Information Before Registering By registering for this training, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understand the following training requirements and policies. Attendance & Participation Full attendance and participation in all required live synchronous portions of the training are required, including instruction and supervised practicum. If a participant misses more than 15 minutes of required training content, an approved make-up activity must be completed in accordance with the Attendance & Make-Up Policy before that portion of training can be considered complete. No partial credit is awarded for incomplete training requirements. For virtual training, participants are expected to remain visibly present on camera during required live instruction and practicum except during scheduled breaks or when an approved accommodation applies. Experiential Practicum Supervised experiential practicum is a required component of EMDR Basic Training. Participants will engage in structured practice and, as applicable, rotate through the roles of therapist, client, and observer. Participation in the client role may involve working with authentic, personally relevant material. Practicum is an educational experience and is not psychotherapy. Participants are encouraged to select material appropriate for a professional training environment and communicate with training faculty whenever assistance is needed. Completion Requirements Completion of the full EMDR Basic Training requires: ● Completion of Part I and Part II ● Completion of required instructional content ● 20 hours of supervised practicum ● 10 hours of consultation ● Completion of required reading ● Completion of the required Learner Assessment ● Completion of any required make-up activities All requirements must be completed within 12 months of the participant's initial Part I start date. Technology Requirements Live virtual training is conducted through Zoom, and course materials are provided through Thinkific. Participants are responsible for having: ● Reliable internet access ● A functioning camera and microphone ● A device capable of accessing Zoom and Thinkific ● A private environment appropriate for professional training and experiential practicum Participants are encouraged to test their technology prior to training and join live sessions early enough to address routine technical difficulties. Significant technology difficulties that result in missed required training content may require completion of an approved make-up activity. Professionalism & Learning Environment Participants are expected to attend on time, remain engaged, interact respectfully with training faculty and other participants, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and contribute to a professional learning environment that supports the safety and dignity of all trainees. Rooted & Restored Collective is committed to providing a supportive, culturally responsive, and affirming learning environment without discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics. Confidentiality Participation in EMDR Basic Training does not establish a therapist-client relationship between participants, trainers, or practicum staff. Participants are nevertheless expected to respect the privacy of other trainees and not disclose personally identifying or sensitive information shared during training or practicum. When discussing clinical cases, participants must protect client confidentiality and avoid unnecessary identifying information. Recording, photographing, screenshotting, or otherwise capturing confidential experiential practicum activities is prohibited. Accessibility & Reasonable Accommodations Rooted & Restored Collective is committed to providing an accessible learning environment consistent with applicable requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants who require reasonable accommodations are encouraged to contact [email protected] as early as possible prior to training so that appropriate arrangements can be considered. Reasonable accommodations will be considered while maintaining the required learning objectives and essential components of EMDR Basic Training, including supervised practicum. Cancellation and transfer requests should be submitted in writing to [email protected]. Exceptions may be considered for serious illness, injury, family emergencies, humanitarian crises, or other significant circumstances outside of the participant's reasonable control. Requests are reviewed individually and approval is not guaranteed. Cancellation or Rescheduling by Rooted & Restored Collective If Rooted & Restored Collective cancels or reschedules a training, participants may transfer their registration to the rescheduled training, transfer to another available offering of the same training, or request a refund of registration fees paid for the cancelled or rescheduled training.
